Full Day: Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels With Big Group Tour (N/A)

Escape the bustle of the city to explore the rural scenery and the famous Cu Chi Tunnels in Southern Vietnam. Step in the shoes of a Viet Cong fighter, as you climb through an impressive 155-mile (250-km) long tunnel network, and visit a typical gun shooting area.

Pickup at our office location ranging from 07:00 - 07:30 AM from your guide as you depart for Cu Chi for the Cu Chi Tunnels Half Day Big Group Tour. Along the way, watch as the frantic city scenery transitions to a more peaceful, rural setting. Witness passing rice paddy farms, quaint roadside vendors, and increasingly lush greenery.

Once you arrive, begin with a tour the Cu Chi Tunnels, some of the most famous underground networks of pathways, hideouts, sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, hospitals, and Hoang Cam Stove. These narrow tunnels provide barely enough space for a single person to crawl their way through, though some are now wider to accommodate visitors. Also learn that the mere 10–13 feet (3–4 m) thick level of upper soil can support the bearing weight of a 55 ton (50 mT) tank and the explosive damage of bombs.

We enjoyed the whole experience of the Cu Chi tunnels. It was good to get an understanding of why the people lived underground and how tiny the tunnels were for them to move about. The network of tunnels span a large area and we were lucky enough to go down one for approx. 20 metres however my son went the 100 metres. A great experience and worth going and taking a look.

Fascinating tour of the Cu Cui tunnels with an informative, English speaking guide. The boat ride up the Saigon was much nicer than a coach ride. Lunch before the trip was delicious and very hearty. Lots of interesting dishes to try. Would highly recommend.

With the company we went with there was an option to get a boat and go along the river. There are huts with dug out rooms to show you what the under grounds rooms could looks like. The tunnels are supposed to be double the size of the original ones used by the people during the war. The tourist tunnels are tight and dim and undulating, requiring crawling, squatting and some climbing. Overall, you'll appreciate the hardship and ingenuity of these extremely extensive tunnels.

But if you don't then you kind-of miss the whole point of the visit. However the good news is that there are 'bottle-out' escapes every 20 metres, so although theres over 100 metres open to the public you're not committing to doing all of it. At 61 and on the large side I found the 'crouched' tunnel position unsustainable so resorted to hands and knees, which is fine when its dry but probably not good in the rainy season. We only visited the top level tunnel, theres two deeper levels which can be visited by special arrangement but are definitely not for the faint hearted. NB if you have a small torch or smartphone with a 'flashlight' option thats really useful.Less

Yes everyone goes there, yes it is touristy, but if you can forget that it's a tale of human tenacity and endurance. Hire a guide.The one thing that made me very uncomfortable is that there is a firing range next to the food/drink stop where anyone can buy live ammunition (that's what our guide told us) and have a go.

The Cu Chi tunnels was something I've never experienced ! After listening to the guide about the trouble the Vietnamese have gone through I feel guilty for complaining about these small things in life.It also shows that the Vietnamese were not too rich and didn't have the money and weapons as the Americans but there wit and common sense won them the war!!

Amazing history to find here. Go with a tour guide. Very interesting and the tours are fun. Usually I dislike group tours but you don’t really have much of an option here. Also the groups that are smaller are better. Caution...if you are afraid of small spaces, don’t go in the tunnels. It’s quite strenuous and extremely small!

Very interesting. How Vietnamese fought the Americans by building tunnels 3 stories underground. It was almost impossible to locate people from the air. Tunnels are very narrow. Our tour guide was really good and gave good explanation of all the different areas. Worth a visit

The history of the Cu Chi Tunnels is really interesting and really important to understanding the Vietnam War however you really won’t get much out of it unless you get yourself a good guide, someone who can truly bring it to life. We used Vietnam Travel group and our guide was a war veteran called Tuan. I would highly recommend asking for him, he will make the trip unforgettable!

I booked a half day tour with a company called Vietnam Travel group. It was worth it! We had a tour guide named Lockie who was really entertaining, well informed and friendly. We crawled through a few metres of tunnel and it was a real, authenthic fun experience. Would love to meet Lockie again!

The tunnels themselves are quite small and some have been widened so that tourists can walk (crouch) through them. Tunnel 1 is mostly original from the war and is extremely tight. Luckily enough you can opt out after 20m when it gets to the stage where you must crawl on your knees or army crawl though it. As a bonus you can fire some weapons such as an AK47 or M16 rifle. This option is pricey as you can only purchase bullets in multiples of 10 but where else will you get a chance to shoot an AK47?! Definitely try this on your trip to Saigon as a half day tour.Less

Really enjoyed the tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels. It was amazing to see how the locals fought their war. The experience was made better with the sounds of gunfire with people shooting on the range. Unfortunately they had ran out of AK 47 ammunition but I fired a gun anyway.

Like many historic tourist destinations these days, the place has been mocked up a little to cater for tourists.But despite that, I still found it to be an interesting, and at times overwhelming, experience to see the way the tunnels were used during the war. The exhibits were interesting and I guess you just need to remember context. The explanation from the guide on the way framed what we were going to see and hear really well. Each person had the option to go into the tunnel and it was a reality check to be in there and to try and move around. You were also able to taste some of the food that the soldiers ate while they were in battle and also to shoot some rifles at a range. The rifles were an unsettling option but interesting for some.There were also refreshments, souvenirs and clean restrooms made freely accessible. I recommend that first time visitors go (just as I am). Make sure you take a tour with a reputable company and good guides because ours made all the difference.Less

The network of underground tunnels here is just phenomenal. It is amazing to think that really not that long ago whole families were living and surviving in these tunnels. You even get to try out their food and 'tunnel tea.' Be warned don't buy the cute mini bullet keyrings...as these had to be removed from baggage in the hold!

My husband and I are American expats living in Asia and when planning our trip to Vietnam we wanted to learn more about the war that happened decades before we were born. We’d only ever learned about the war in our high school history classes but it’s not a huge talking point (in our experience). It was extremely interesting and disheartening to learn about the life of these people during the war. There were several opportunities to go through different Cu Chi Tunnels. I chose to only go through 2 but my husband went through a third one that was very long. Very grateful for our guide Selena and her wonderful job guiding our group through this point of history. Highly suggest everyone to give this morning tour a go.Less

It was amazing morning tour. Our tour guide Mr Trew was funny and knowledgeable. He knew many things about Cu Chi Tunnels. I enjoyed this trip comfortably, def recommend.

Took part in the Cu Chi Tunnels Morning Big Group Tour. The tour guide can express himself clearly. He was able to discuss the history of the place in an interesting manner. Overall, quite sastified, def deserved a recommendation from me

Our tour guide is Yen and he take care of everyone within the big group. He communicates very well and can explain clearly and demonstrate how the Cu Chi Tunnels were used. He is also quite humorous which makes the trip more enjoyable. Can't wait to be back again.

An amazing half day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Our tour guide Truong was amazing. He spoke excellent English, was very friendly and gave us plenty of information about the places we visited. Would highly recommend.

The bus was about 30 min late was the only negative. The guides were good the young lady who was in charge explained everything. The bus was comfortable with AC. A two hour ride to the Cu Chi Tunnels you make a stop in a village that sells snacks and souvenirs. Those tunnels are small had a great time a must see in Ho Chi minh, give it a try everyone ^^

The trip & guide was SO informative. We previously had no idea how resourceful the resistance fighters were with virtually no firepower of their own. The trip placed us in the shoes of the resistance and so we understood the other side of the history. It was well worth the visit even though my husband and I were too old to go down into the Cu Chi Tunnels. Nevertheless, def recommend this ..More
